President's Day!

And the flag is out to honor the great men who have led our great country through the years. This year, I've thought more about President's Day as I'm one of the room mom's in the 3rd grade class. We've been planning an activity for this week, so I've given it a lot more thought than just celebrating that it is a day off from work.

This past summer we went to Mount Rushmore so we learned more about our Presidents there, and also McKay has been learning about the Constitution and US History, so we've had our founding fathers on the brain. There are many interesting facts to know if you are interested. We really do live in a great country, and many very brave men have helped advance our freedoms and rights. I'm really thankful to live in such a country and to honor those men today.

I'm also really thankful for a day off from work! Wa-hoo!

Open weekend!

I'm pretty excited to have no pressing plans for the weekend! My house is clean (for the most part) and things are quiet! Isn't this what it is about? My two youngest are painting some Valentine Hearts. My oldest stays at school til 5 on Fridays now for play rehearsal. I've got to get Noah to the dr. in an hour for his annual physical. And of course, I have to work tomorrow morning, but that's no biggie! Then, Noah has his final basketball game. So far, his team is undefeated. We'll see if they are able to hold onto it. Wouldn't it be awesome...seeing how his football team went undefeated, and won the championship for his division, and now his little Junior Jazz team. How'd he get so lucky to get on teams that are so athletic?!

After that, we have nothing planned. And the weather is supposed to be GORGEOUS! Mid 50's for February! How perfect is that? Maybe a family bike ride will be in order!

Then Sunday, we'll go to church. Seth is still adjusting to his new primary teachers. They are a nice, young couple, who probably are not used to the antics of a busy, independent 5 year old! Hopefully, that will go smoothly!

Here's to a fabulous weekend, filled with Sunshine!

Family Fun Day

Normally, I get up and go to work early on Saturday mornings...while the boys either sleep in or get up and lazily watch cartoons, while The Chief sleeps in. It started out that way...I left for work at 7:40, but everyone was awake and getting ready to go to a friend's baptism. I got to work, and found out my 8:00 client cancelled. My 9 and 11 had already cancelled earlier in the work, so I ask the receptionist if she would call my 10:00 client and move her to 11, which she did, and then I ran home and joined my family for the baptism, so that was a really nice, pleasant surprise. Then went back into work from 10:30-1:00 and got a lot of stuff done there, so I feel completely caught up and organized! Yeah! Meanwhile, the Chief took Noah and Seth to Noah's bball game, and McKay stayed with friends for brunch following the baptism. We all met up at 1:30, and went for lunch, where we all ate too much. Then we did a number of errands. You know the kind...gas station, Costco (where we spent WAY TOO MUCH $), the library, dollar store, grocery store (crowded beyond belief with all the people buying for the Super Bowl), and then to Office Max, and finally to Hobby Lobby. We picked up a movie at RedBox, and now the boys and the Chief are doing that, and I thought I would give you an update of how we spent our day! I had to do something while my Ipod is synching. I realize I'm not being so creative today!

One thing funny that happened...after we left Costco, we drove past the Chevy dealership, and there were a number of Camaro's there in the parking lot. As the Chief LOVES, LOVES, LOVES this car, I just had to say, "Why don't you pull in and have a look?" I said this as we had just gone by, but he whipped around, and pulled in, while we all laughed. I made him promise to not get out. I didn't want some poor salesman to come out in the cold to try to sell him a car. See, The Chief is going to get a Camaro...but he has to wait til he's 50. That's our deal. Plus, he has to save a bunch of money for it! Anyhow, he loved being 10 feet away from those cars. I thought he would hyperventilate from his excitement. It was fun!

We really had a wonderful day all together. I'm glad we're at this place with our family.
