Boys meet the Big Guy!

My baby represents all the magic of Christmas! This is the best time of a mom's life! Your child smiles when he sits on Santa's lap and believes that Santa will make all his dreams come true!
My Middle Man doesn't look too pleased to meet with Santa. He is having some serious questions about the Big Guy! He thinks this guy is perhaps one of the Elves!

Here is my oldest with Santa. He is such a good sport!

New Year's Eve 2009

Hard to believe that this decade is coming to a close! I brought this decade (and Millenium) in as a new mother at my parents' home in New York. It was a fun NYE despite all the fear of Y2K! Does anyone think about how "crazy" America was about Y2K? I thought my mom was definitely one of the crazy ones. She was prepared times 15! I didn't worry too much. Now, as we are about to enter 2010, I wonder if this next decade will slide past even faster than this past one has!

My boys have been sleeping in late during this Holiday vacation. I think they are going to have a difficult time getting back on our routine. The chief had to go to work this morning. He got up and left at 6. I know because he woke me with a sweet kiss. I managed to go back to sleep for another hour, so hopefully I'll be able to make it to "the clock strikes 12" tonight! I'm running errands with all 3 boys this morning...not my first choice, but oh well, that is the life of a mom!

We're getting together with the Prices tonight. We are planning a fondue party for the 10 of us. (They have 3 boys that are similar aged to our 3 guys). Then we'll play games and set off a few fireworks at midnight. Should be an enjoyable evening.

And tomorrow...we have nothing planned, except a date for the Chief and I tomorrow evening! Doesn't that sound like a wonderful way to start the new year? We went to the Temple yesterday and dinner and bowling tomorrow night!

I told you, we have a very blessed life...

The Skelly Scoop, Volume 1, Issue 1

I've been thinking about my New Year's Resolutions, and what I can actually resolve to improve in my life and what will be something that will happen longer than just til the end of January. One thing I've wanted to do for awhile is improve record keeping, aka journaling! So, what better way to do this than enter the world of blogging. I can do it at home, or on a break at work, or even when on vacation and at the end of the year, I can even print it out and create that record for our children and grandchildren...so this is Resolution #1. I will blog at least 1 time/month and include photos as well. If I blog more often, super, but if it only happens once a month that will be more than I have done for the past 4 years!

So, let me introduce the Skelly Family...

First, there's the Chief of the Family: Scott. He just turned 44! He currently works for a small company called Pilkington Metal Finishing. He is THE Human Resource Department. More on that subject in the near future I hope! He passed his important Certification Exam to become a Professional in Human Resources this month, and this was a great accomplishment. We are very proud of him. He is an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan! He also enjoys watching college football (go Cougs!) and basketball.

Then there is me, Gretchen, the Mom. I'm months away from reaching the big 4-0! I'm not minding hitting 40...just some of the side effects that come with it (more and more grey hair keep appearing!) I'm working full-time for Primary Children's in their Behavioral Health Residential/Day treatment program. I have the best boss, and the best co-workers. I love what I do and I believe that I am good at what I do. I also work 10 hours/week at LDS Family Services doing outpatient counseling. I also love my job there. It is an opportunity to work with a variety of people, and it keeps me on my toes. While I wish I didn't work so many hours, I really do love both of my jobs. In my freetime, I enjoy spending time with my boys. I love reading and always have at least 2 books on my nightstand and another 2 or 3 in my book basket. I go to the library at least once/week. I like doing creative things, but am not necessarily good at those kind of things. I have a number of wonderful girlfriends, who help me maintain my feminine side in a household of men!

Then comes my firstborn: McKay, also known as the Kayster, Mr. McKay, Sport, and Tay. He is 10 years old. He is in the 4th grade at Early Light Academy. Just a blink ago, he was born, and now he is this wonderful, growing boy. He and I are good friends. McKay is sensitive and compassionate. He is my helper. While he is definitely the winner of the messiest bedroom in this house, McKay can clean a bathroom like no other. He rarely complains about doing his chores and he is responsible to get his homework done. He didn't get my love of reading gene, nor his dad's love of sports. McKay enjoys art, playing the piano, and spending time with his best friend, Parker. He is a self described "tv junkie" which his mom tries to reign in.

Next is our Middle child: Noah, also known as Noey. He is almost 8 years old. He is in the 2nd grade at Early Light Academy. Noah LOVES sports...especially Basketball and football. He is playing Junior Jazz for the 2nd year, and he is really good. He was really disappointed that he couldn't play football this past year, and had to settle for flag football, which he still enjoyed. He loves to be outdoors and goes through more sneakers than anyone else in this family. He is generally adventurous, except when it comes to having to talk in public or ride a rollercoaster!

And then is my baby: Seth, commonly called Setheroo, Sethers, and Sethy. He is 4 years old, and tries so hard to be like his older brothers. I want to keep him a little baby and love to still sit and rock him while we read bedtime stories. Seth is tough and can keep up with his brothers. He seems to like sports and wants to play soccer next year. He likes to ride his bike, and currently he loves having a flashlight with him wherever he goes. Thankfully, he got two for Christmas so he's covered!

And we can't leave out Mousse and Penny, our family dogs. Mousse is a chocolate lab and he really is a Moose. However, he is as calm as can be and the sweetest thing ever. Penny is a Viszola/Boxer mix. She is a medium size dog and is a beautiful copper color. She is playful and loves to wrestle with Mousse, although he is not always interested. She is a handful to take for a walk and we still need to work with her on learning to manage the leash.

We have lived in South Jordan for 4.5 years now. We love our home. We live in a great area, with an LDS temple just minutes away. We have all the modern conviences just 5 minutes from us, and our best friends in the world only live about 3 minutes away. Unfortunately, our family is not near, but we are fortunate to see them each year.

We have a great life. We have been blessed with so many comforts! We look forward to sharing our adventures in this Skelly Scoop!
